In a corner of the dining area is a shirt belonging to Freddie. It’s a Japanese bowling shirt, which is characterized by a simple, loose (almost square) cut, a small, flat collar, and an embroidered name above the pocket—in this case, “Ethel.” and label Strikers Tokyo Japan. Other members of the band Queen wore similar shirts with embroidered names like “Gladys” or “Ruth.”
There is no photo of Freddie wearing this specific shirt, but there is one with a shirt that has the name “Ruth” on it. It’s also possible that HRC purchased a similar shirt without confirmation that the musician ever wore or owned it.
